CIPR National Conference 2020 goes virtual

A new way to communicate

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations, National Conference 2020 took place over three days on our very own virtual platform, Fusion. The line up of 26 speakers spoke about communication in the new world and their experiences on how communication has changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

300 international delegates

The conference saw a massive 300+ delegates tune in for the three-day event from across the globe, including Belarus, Lithuania, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, and Saudi Arabia. It wasn’t just the audience that was global, the event saw speakers from Australia and USA.

Creating the unexpected

Working with our amazing partners Imagin3D, The Fusion platform provided CIPR with a choice or either a bespoke environment or to be based on a venue of choice. Featuring an Escape Room, a Wellness Area, and an Aquarium to mention a few; CPIR settled on bespoke, providing the delegates with three days of 100% unexpected. The event also had several sponsors, so we designed the main event space to have two sections, one for exhibition stands and the other as an auditorium.

Interactivity

To bring in some live elements into the exhibition space we placed a live Twitter rotunda in the centre which was perfect for the event narrative but also encouraged social media sharing using the relevant hashtag – who wouldn’t want to see their tweet displayed in the space? The space allowed delegates to discover the event together by attending live sessions and taking part in the Escape room activities. This was designed to encourage attendees to stay within the platform and be used as a conversation starter with a bit of healthy competition over top scores!

The Aquarium was particularly popular throughout the event allowing guests to escape to a relaxing and calming space whilst watching schools of fish and sharks swim by – these spaces are great to allow a reset after a busy day of networking. 

Off the scale!

Delegates soon took to Twitter to rave about the event as they explored the different zones and watched the presentations. The feedback was immense from everyone involved, Sparq's Client Manager Alex Zolnerciks commented: "With this being CIPR's first plunge into the world of virtual events, together we worked incredibly hard to make sure we delivered something brave and engaging at every single level, and the results are overwhelming".
