British Bodyshop Awards

Overview

After a two-year sabbatical, Auto Body Professionals (ABP) British Bodyshop Awards returned to the Intercontinental London - The O2 in October for an evening of celebration, entertainment, and fundraising. We teamed up with ABP once again to deliver full technical production for the award ceremony and after party celebration.

Ambition

Welcoming over 800 body shop professionals from across the UK, the awards celebrated 32 areas of excellence including ‘Customer Excellence’ and ‘Apprentice of the Year’, with sporting presenter, Gabby Logan hosting the proceedings. The ABP team were keen to come back with a bang after a pause on live events in 2020 and deliver an awards show like no other. The biggest ceremony of its kind in the world, the awards are designed to allow insurers, vehicle manufacturers and accident management companies the chance to publicly recognise the great work done for them by the body shop network.

Experience

The team installed all technical aspects for the gala awards including lighting, sound, staging and video, as well as oversaw stage management and show calling. The custom-made stage set combined columns of LED to showcase the ABP and PPG logos, as well as PATT 2017 lights for a touch of glamour. Two projection screens surrounded the stage showcasing the award categories and live video feed to screen content. Once the awards had been dished out, the party really began with guests enjoying fairground rides, a casino and photobooth all set-up in the main room.

Response

Paul Dowling, Operations Director of ABP, commented: “It was a fantastic evening and getting together and celebrating in person for the first time in two years made it even more special. We have worked on this event with Sparq for five years, and the team always go above and beyond to exceed the previous, and this was no exception!”
